Things you need to know about cheap hosting companies

There are so many cheap hosting solutions out there and that's all fineand dandy

, but if you are serious about making money with your websitethere are a few things you might want to keep in mind. Companys likegodaddy, readyhost and a slew of others are just trying to slap a quickcolorful label on web hosting and send you out the door. Tipically thesupport is going to really stink and on top of that your are limited totheir tools and configurations.

If you are planning on doing any search engine optimization withyour site there are many pitfalls to hosting with a cheap provider. Ican tell you straight up that my tool options, ranking, speeed allimproved dramatically when I found a healthy hosting provider. Thesedays we are seeing so many little advertising gimmics with thisservice. Free domain names, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited space,Submission to thousands of search engines - ect. I believe you get whatyou pay for. I have developed many client sites where they insisted onsaving money on their hosting, these sites never seemed to go anywherein my openion.

These are a few things I would recomend you keep in mind when trying to find a good hosting company to stick with.

  1.  Make sure you own your domain name for at least 10 years, I have seen people loose it to (Terms) or have to pay tripple to keep using it every year. (note) try to keep your domain name tight short and as easy as possible to remember. Buy up all the secondary extentions of that domain name for a a year or two to cover your bases.
  2. Demand you get a static IP address check the ip range to make sure some other huge network is not associated with it. I believe most search engines take ip addresses into account when trying to evaluate sites and links between them.
  3. Review the tools and limitations of the hosting control panel the hosting company has available, you really want to find companies that are safe to stick with for the life of your business. Options like re-directs, mail forwarding, and the ability to build your own custom 404 pages can be a benafit.
